Our Children’s Ministry Team strives to provide a safe and loving environment for kids. Our teachers love the Lord and want to share His love and truth with children. Classes are designed to help children experience lessons from the Bible through fun activities.
Our mission statement is: Together with parents we will introduce children to God and His son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, teach them Biblical truths to help them build their faith, and provide opportunities to practice ministering to others.
We offer care and teaching on Sunday mornings for children birth through 5th grade. Classes are held during both our 9:30 and 11:00 services. During the 11:00 service, children K-5th grades will begin by joining worship with their families. At 11:20 parents can release their kids to come downstairs for their classes. We encourage children K-5th grades to bring their Bibles to class. If your child does not have a Children’s Bible, we would love to provide one for them!
Nursery: Our nursery caregivers love to serve the youngest members of our church family. Children will receive nurturing, loving care while their parents are worshipping. We provide a clean and safe environment for children birth - 2 years to explore and enjoy. (Older 2 year olds who are ready for a classroom environment are welcome to join the pre-school class.)
Pre-School: Children 3 - 4 years old will experience fun, age-appropriate activities. We provide a variety of activities to help the children enjoy learning about God! Their classes will include: Bible lessons, prayer, songs, crafts, games, puppets, snack and free play.
K-3rd Grades: Our early elementary classes are filled with fun activities that help the children to experience the Bible and prayer. They will enjoy lessons that share the truth of the Bible and how that truth applies to them. We help children understand that Jesus is their friend and that they can talk to Him anytime through prayer.
4th-5thGrades: Our older elementary classes help kids to take a deeper look into the Bible. Through fun activities and concentrated study, we help to prepare the kids for the challenges they will face in the coming teen years. We help them build a solid foundation for their faith and incorporate relationship building with their Christian friends. We also have a greater focus on outreach and serving others with this age group.
On Wednesdays at 6:45 PM we offer classes for children 3 years - 5th grade. Along with great teaching we include many opportunities for the children to build relationships through special activities. We also provide several opportunities for kids to serve others in our church and our community.
We are excited about a new ministry that is forming for our children! We are blessed with amazing children at our church and we want each child to feel safe, loved and have his/her needs met. Most of all, we want to make every effort to share about Jesus in a way that all children can learn and understand. This ministry focuses on giving one-on-one attention for children who need a little extra help and guidance during their classes. We want all children to enjoy the activities with their peers and to be able to participate in the fun! Therefore, we will have trained adults who can spend time helping kids who may need some assistance participating in a classroom with their peers. Please pray for us as we are in the beginning stages of creating this ministry. We want to be sure that what we create will work well to meet the needs of the children, their families, our teachers and the other kids in the classes. If you feel your child may benefit from this ministry or you are interested in becoming a Buddy, please contact Amy Wilhelm.
Ministering to Parents with Children diagnosed with Autism, ADD and ADHD
Parents are invited to join our Support/Resource group for parents with a child on the PDD-Autism spectrum scale and children diagnosed with ADD or ADHD. This group is for parents interested in an holistic approach to helping their children. It will be a time for parents to draw support from others going through similar circumstances and a chance to gain knowledge about an array of treatments that are working for other children. Information will be shared about diet and nutrition options as well asbehavioral therapies and more. Our goal is to give hope to parents who can sometimes feel hopeless, exhausted & overwhelmed by their situation. To empower them with God's love for them and the strength he has to give.
If you or someone you know could benefit from this group, please join us on Wednesdays 7-8pm in room 118 on the lower level. Children are welcome to join our regular Wednesday evening activities while their parents attend the group meeting! For more information, please contact Amy Wilhelm.
This is a wonderful Free Methodist campground about an hour west of the church that offers a variety of camps for kids. For more information, visit the Somerset Beach Camp website
